The Politehnica Timișoara football team drew in the 2nd stage of the 3rd League. It was 1-1 (0-1) with Progresul Pecica, at home.

After Boariu’s opportunity (9, shot over) and a bar on each side – ex-policeman Haloș (18) and Istratie (24), respectively – the guests opened the scoring. It was min. 39, when the Ukrainian Kiricenko (18 years old) resumed in the net from a cross from the right. In the last minute of the first half, David Popa takes action on his own and reminds us of last season’s goalscorer. However, they enter with 0-1 at the cabins.
At the restart, Cristi Galan changes the system. Poli switches to 4-1-3-2, with Popa and Istratie leading the way. The last one is blocked by the goalkeeper (49). The new entrant Avramescu manages to equalize, just five minutes after his introduction on the field (as a peak, Popa returning to the middle), with a lob over the goalkeeper (68). Just three minutes later, he also has a chance for another goal, he is alone with the goalkeeper, but he defends. In min. 73, Mosoarcă catches Răchită’s shot. Arsene, in the first phase after his entry into the game, sends a cross from a free kick (75). In the next minute, it’s the home team’s turn to hit the crossbar, through Istratie, with a header. In min. 79, Răchita misses alone with the goalkeeper. Istratie (83) sends just wide. In the last phase of the match, in min. 90+4, N. Călin shoots over.

Darius Fotoniu (b. 2007), a junior from his own nursery, was on the scoresheet for the first time in an official senior match for the white-violets.

“I’m a little disappointed, but the boys fought, I can’t fault them for that. We clearly suffer because of our youth in certain moments, which we misjudge and this punishes you, the opponent manages to create a very good situation from our little out of sync.

It was a ball that we won in the midfield, we played it forward and we were a little disorganized. They caught us with a quick action on their right and scored from the central area, where no one should have passed, by the first defender, not the second central defender.

We tried to get more people into the attack, put pressure on their central defenders, not be able to build easily, abuse long balls, and we managed to do that. We won enough long balls, which they played. I think I won most of them. We then tried to have actions in which we could use our two strikers, because they have good quality, they are aggressive and enter well into combinations. Something that we succeeded in doing. In addition to scoring the goal, we also created some good goal situations. The second goal didn’t go in, if it did, I think the score would have stayed the same”, said Cristian Gălan, the white-violet coach.
