The white-purples, determined for the game from Craiova: “We have the moral ascendant”

Politehnica Timişoara has a weekend reunion with U Craiova 1948. After the white draw of the regular season and the match of the Romanian Cup, won by the white-violets right in Bănie (score 3-1), the two meet on Saturday for the round match League 2 play-off.

“A difficult match awaits us, Craiova is a team that since the beginning of the season and until now has always been in the first three places, it is a very strong team, a strong team, a very well organized team since the arrival of Eugen Trica. It’s a difficult match, even if we beat them in the Cup, that match had its history, it was that elimination of Baeten, which facilitated our victory. It’s a game with stakes, I want my team to keep the determination they had in Călăraşi, in Călăraşi I looked much better than in the previous two games, I want them not to have pressure. I repeat, I want to play casually, we are the team that wants to produce the big surprise. I think that the pressure should be on Craiova at this moment “, said Dan Alexa.

The Polytechnic technician spoke about the strengths of the opponents, who recently changed the head coach, but also stressed that his students are able to overcome (again) their opponent. “They play much more directly, they don’t make mistakes anymore, the Left was the coach who asked them a lot to play, to take risks, you could find spaces behind their defenders. With Trică they have changed, they evolve with two strikers, they play more directly, they don’t take a lot of risks and, if you watch, the opponents have very few goal situations against them. The match in Mioveni was a closed match, where Mioveni rarely entered their square. I think this is their strength, it is a very strong team in one-on-one duels, here they have always managed to make a difference, it is a robust team, which at any time can be dangerous, both in the fixed phases and in situations of game. They have good players, of course, they allowed themselves this, I think they have the biggest budget in League 2. And, bravo to them, that they want very much to promote and make efforts, from this point of view they have all my respect . But we are also a team that when organized and determined can win against any team. It’s important to stay focused and be more present in the game than other games “, explained Dan Alexa.

“I expect a match in which whoever makes fewer mistakes will win. Both I and Trică are coaches who organize our teams well… I think it will be a match with scoring situations, because both in our country and in Craiova, there are players who can make a difference and players who in certain moments can do something “, concluded the coach of the white-violets. Dan Alexa will serve his last stage of suspension in Craiova, instead the whole Polytechnic team is valid for this duel.

The White-purples, determined for the game from Craiova: “We have the moral ascendant”, said Mircea Axente.

“We have the moral ascendancy, we were not defeated by Craiova, we have a victory in the Cup and that equal in the championship, a match we could have won if we were more careful, and we are clearly going to win there. In order to be able to catch the first two places, we need to start winning “, our striker specified.

The match U Craiova 1948 – Politehnica Timişoara will be played on Saturday, from 14.00 (broadcast on Digisport 1, Look TV and Telekom), on the “Ion Oblemenco” stadium, in the second stage of the League 2 play-off. ranks 2nd with 36 points ahead of this round, while the white-violets have accumulated 33 points and are in 5th place.
