Ioan Ciosescu

#1921 8️⃣6️⃣ years ago our left midfielder and forward, Ioan Ciosescu, was born. His efficiency under the #whitepurple jersey was an exceptional one.

👨‍⚕️ Being a Doctor as a main profession, “Ciosi” was an expert as a striker as well, being a top scorer for Ştiinţa for two times (the former name of our team, along the history) in the first division (Divizia A), both in 1955, overtaking his team player, Dinulescu, and Ozon, from Dinamo, respectively in 1958, the year when we won the first Romanian Cup displayed in our shop window.

⚡️ “This students’ team successes are inseparable from Ciosescu, who was the main danger for every team’s goalie. Many say thay Ciosescu would have known how to score even with his closed eyes. Of course we won’t totally agree, but have to admit there’s a lot of real thing in it.

⚽️ Ştiința’s former central striker (Politehnica of nowadays) had a huge sense of the goal, that none of the current strikers from Timişoara can add as such a quality. He was able to score from any position”, as Iosif Dudaş was mentioning in “Timişoara – leagănul fotbalului românesc” (Timişoara – The Cradle of Romanian Soccer, translated).
