Politehnica suffered today another defeat in the League 2 play-off, score 0-1 in the 5th round, at home, with FK Csikszereda. The only goal of the match was scored by a former member of the white-violets – Marvin Schieb.

Our team approached the game against the hammers with a much changed and rejuvenated team. The visitors got a chance to pulling one back after 14 minutes, due to a defensive blunder leaving Marvin Schieb completely unmarked. His strike was pathetic though, easy prey for the home side’s keeper. The Polytechnic then took more initiative. An angle shot by Ivanovici was blocked by the goalkeeper Gyengye (min. 19). 22 minutes into the match, the visitors put themselves ahead 0 – 3 as finished off an attack from the left with a spectacular scissors kick. First Csonka sent over the goal, so that Rus could copy him from a better position. Jebari (26), for Csikszereda, and the same Russian (27), for Politehnica, had other attempts at the two gates before the break.

And the second half started better for the guests. Jebari made a superb strike after 50 minutes with a shot straight in front of the goal after a long ball through the middle, but one of the visitors’ defenders got a foot in at the last second and warded it off for a corner. Although they still had more possession, the white-purples did not create a clear chance to score. It was a game in which our U18 players, Denis Radu and Doru Andrei (photo) stood out the most.

After this failure, our team remained on the last position of the play-off, with 33 points. The next match of the Polytechnic will also be at home, in the company of the Danube Călăraşi, duel scheduled for Friday, April 30, at 15.00.
