Dan Alexa spoke today, in front of the media representatives, about the separation from Politehnica Timişoara. The 41-year-old technician joined our project last summer from the position of general manager of the club, in a period with many uncertainties. Meanwhile, the former white-and-purple captain also served as head coach of the first team, which, for the first time, gained access to the League 2 play-off.

As a sign of appreciation for the efforts made by Dan Alexa for Politehnica, Cristian Romoniţă, representative of the Timişoreni “Druckeria” Supporters Association in the club’s management board, made the following clarifications:

“We wanted to make this meeting because from the beginning we were a team, we are a team until the last day. That’s why we came together, out of respect for what Dan did for this club. He came a year ago, in a difficult situation for our club. From the first day it was actually a locomotive. He created an emulation, he empowered, he gave 200% every day here for the club and that’s why I said that the club should return this day to him. Today should be about him, not about the club. Because Dan always put the club first. He did everything he could here. Manager, coach, in the difficult moments of quarantine, he took water to the players in the rooms, he went to the city after sponsorships, he went to the authorities, he did everything, from the work from the bottom to the highest level. Few know that he came here absolutely voluntarily, he is the first coach in the history of the club with zero salary. Moreover, in the difficult moments, when I didn’t know how to cross the moon, few know, he sold one of his family’s cars to overcome that moment, and I stop here “There are many moments, but I don’t say them all“.

“It is important that I say this in my inaugural conference. I mean, I did everything without any regrets, I did it from the bottom of my heart. You know very well how much I love Poli. It would have been difficult for me without your support, and here I want to nominate you on time, because at all times you were by my side, and when it was not possible or in crisis situations: Cristi Romoniţă, Seba (no. Sebastian Novovic) , Saşa Moza and Dinu Negriu, you have all my respect! I felt closest to you, because I was in this situation every day. It is a moment in which I must thank you, because I have lived moments in which you put your family behind Poli and not once, but “n” times. You have the most respect from me. I want Poli to continue, to increase the level this season. I decided to leave because I was very emotionally involved and it was difficult to succeed during this period. It’s a time when Poli needs to grow, I have great confidence in all the people who are here. There are people who do it voluntarily, Poli needs support. And here I want to sound the alarm: maybe by my departure, Dominic Fritz, because I understood that those statements bothered him a lot, he will get closer to Poli. I want the officials to realize that Poli is not only interesting in the election campaign, Poli is interesting for everyone in this area. It’s a brand and it’s hard without them. They (n.r. the representatives of Druckeria) have been doing it for years, practically Poli exists at the moment and largely because of them. Everything I did I did out of love, I knew where I was coming from, I wanted to do something historical. But it wasn’t to be. It’s my regret – I assume the failure of the promotion, even if the conditions were bad, I think that in some moments more could be done. But I think it was a good year, a bad year. A very, very busy year. It was the year that showed me another side of me. That’s why I decided to leave, because I’m very emotionally connected, it’s hard to succeed in such conditions. That was my decision. I thank them once again, I really love these people and I wish them a lot of success “, said Dan Alexa.

“It was possible to stay in the club as a manager, those were the discussions, I was tempted to stay, but my job is to train. I said from the first day I came here, I’m a manager for a while because my job is to coach. I really want to come back here someday: This is my house! … I’ll be back all the time. I want Poli to be reborn, to reach the first league because it would be wonderful. And that can’t be done with just a few people. More people need to get involved, not just in words. This is a big problem, I hope it will be solved“, Dan Alexa added.

“We delayed the announcement because both Dan and I wanted to continue.” Until the last minute, we hoped we could find a way to continue. But Dan, as he said, has consumed a lot this year and I understand him“, concluded Cristi Romoniţă.

In the coming days, the Polytechnic will announce news, both in terms of the management of the technical bank and in terms of the group of players. The meeting of the white-violet team for the approach of the 2021-22 season is set for Wednesday, June 23
