“At first glance it’s pretty tough, we start with two consecutive away games. Long roads, good teams, but we had to play all the teams anyway. We didn’t have the luck we had last year, but we’re trying to manage. Of course it’s a disadvantage that we play less home games, more away games, same thing, that we start with two away games… that’s the draw. Universitatea Cluj is a team that has strengthened a lot, they brought in 12 players, a new staff. And Călărașiul is a team that last season was in the play-offs. They’ve also gone through a massive restructuring of their squad… There’s still a balance, we also have home games against teams with a better chance of making the play-offs, like Petrolul… It’s too early to make calculations, it’s a transition year. We are trying to do a good job”, said Dorin Toma, Politehnica’s head coach, about the new season’s schedule.

At the beginning of the draw, since Timisoara has two teams in League 2, it was decided (also by lot) that Politehnica would play away in the first round, then receiving number 11 on the Berger Table. Our team will have to play ten “away” games in the autumn season and only nine at home!

Just like last season, the participating teams will play each other only once in the regular season, and then be assigned, based on standings, to the second phase of the competition, play-off or play-out.

The top 6 at the end of the regular season will compete for promotion places in a play-off. Matches will be played round-robin, resulting in 10 more matches for each team.

At the end of the play-off, the top two will be promoted directly to League 1, while the 3rd and 4th place teams will play a play-off with the 8th and 7th place teams from the League 1 play-out.

Teams in places 7-20 at the end of the regular season will be split into two play-off series, playing just one 7-stage round, which will provide six more matches for each team.
