The white-violet didn’t have much time to rest after the Romanian Cup success and will leave tomorrow for Bucharest, for the fourth away game of the current League 2 season. Politehnica’s opponent is a club with experience in this division – FC Metaloglobus, which has an identical record in the standings.

“We have a difficult match ahead of us, a tough game against Metaloglobus, a team with whom we are perfectly equal in terms of points and record. We want to get the most out of this game, although we are coming after a Cup game in which we didn’t shine, we are trying to make things right and bring a point or points from this tough away game”, said Dorin Toma, Politehnica’s head coach.

“We have tried for the most part to adjust some aspects related to physical condition and tactically. We’re also trying today to put some things right and the Cup game really suited us well… Metaloglobus is a good team, like us, an opponent who is also aiming for the play-offs. Of course, they are a good team, with many years in League 2, they have experienced players, like the Herea brothers. But it will be a game that, as the standings show… we have to play as well as we can and grow from game to game. And let’s not repeat the misfortune we had with Poli Iasi in the match in Bucharest”, said the coach of the white-violet team.

Our team will play for the first time this season on an artificial playing surface. “Of course it’s a new surface. We are trying to train today on a synthetic surface, tomorrow the same, we are trying to prepare for the surface we will play on Saturday. It’s a disadvantage because they train and play every day on that pitch,” added Dorin Toma.

The Politehnica coach also spoke today about the new “recruit” in the offense: “Erik Gerbi is a player that we must slowly introduce into the squad. Our squad is not so big, there was also Axente’s departure, he will be in the squad and we will see if we will use his services for this game. Transfers are over for us, with this squad we’ll go at least until winter… He’s a player with a pretty good physique, unfortunately he’s a bit behind in training, but, being a top player – he was at Juventus and Sampdoria – I’m sure he’ll settle in pretty quickly and help us achieve our goals…”.

Midfielder Rareș Lazăr also spoke about the match in the Pantelimon district of Bucharest: “I have thoughts of confidence and optimism, first of all, because despite the Cup game the team looked good in the match against Iași. We have started to bond, to get to know each other and we really want to win at Metaloglobus, despite the ground and the opponent, which will be quite difficult, I know him very well!”.

“I settled in very well, I knew most of the players, we were colleagues in different teams. I also knew most of the players here, I played in matches and as an opponent and I settled in very well, honestly I really feel good (…) The team was in the play-off last year, players who were promoted last year came here… The first step is the play-off, if we are there, in the winter to make some moves and strengthen the squad, of course we hope for promotion”, added the player who arrived in the summer from Rapid.

For medical reasons our team will be without Sebastian Serediuc and Denis Radu in Bucharest. In other news, Doru Andrei has rejoined the white-violet squad after his action with the U19 national team. The “Little Tricolores” played two tests against Bosnia and Herzegovina U19. Our midfielder played in the second half of the first game (score 5-1 for Romania U19) and in the first part of the 0-1 defeat in game 2.

The match Metaloglobus Bucharest – Politehnica Timisoara will be played on Saturday 11 September at 13.00 (televised on Digi Sport 1, Telekom Sport 1 and Look Sport 1) in the 6th round of League 2. Both teams have seven points and identical 6-6 record and are in a perfect tie on positions 8-9 of the standings.
