Coach Dorin Toma said he was satisfied with the way the white-violet players approached the one-sided match of the Romanian Cup Round of 16 against Unirea Slobozia. Politehnica qualified further after a narrow 1-0 win in Ialomița.

“It was a very good game, in which we played ourselves, we had the attitude and determination we want to have in every game. We got past that 90th minute, the boys showed a discipline that we need to see in future games. We had to manage the same way in the other games we had before. I congratulate the players first of all for the way they managed the game, for the way they gave of themselves and showed a spirit of sacrifice. All the boys played a very good game and I congratulate them once again for this qualification!”, said Dorin Toma, Politehnica’s head coach.

Daniel Benzar was mentioned for the match in Slobozia. “Benzar had a medical problem and we decided together not to make the trip and to be fit for the next game,” said Dorin Toma. If the replacement of Ioan Mera, slightly injured, was foreseen at half-time, Claudiu Pamfile unfortunately suffered a sprain at the end of the first half.
