Nicolae Croitoru, the new head coach of Politehnica, was present today for the first time in front of the Timisoara press after his arrival in Banat. The coach, originally from Targoviste, talked about his plans and those of the new technical staff, as well as about the next match of the white-violet team.
“We are in a moment, I think, favorable to the team, the injured have returned. We are starting a new journey, with a new coach, with a new staff, which I present to you: Mr. Nicu Croitoru is the head coach of the team, assistant coach Lucian Dobre, goalkeeping coach Mădălin Smaranda. Toni Foale, assistant coach, and the other members of the staff, masseurs, physiotherapists and masseurs who have been with us, have also remained. We hope it will be a good omen, I thank them that we finally got along. It’s going to be a tough period ahead for our team, but I hope the results will show that we are on an upward path. I thank them and welcome them to us, to Timisoara and to our team and let’s start on the right foot!“, said Călin Rosenblum, Politehnica’s sports director.
“I am honoured to be here in front of you as coach of Politehnica Timisoara, especially as it is a club that I have followed with great interest, since its rebirth, so to call it, i.e. the presence in the 5th League and then the access year after year to the upper echelons, reaching League 2. I followed it with interest, because it was a unique project and is in fact unique in Romania at the moment. I followed it with great curiosity because I wanted to see how far things could go in this way and, of course, the surprise at the time was a nice one, I could say, and, I repeat, I followed it with great interest!
I came to Poli with confidence, I came with the desire to make the team one of the important clubs of Romanian football again. It is clear that Politehnica Timisoara is a club of tradition in Romanian football and everything we do from now on we will do in this direction – to restore the spirit of the club, the team, to come with a different attitude, to bring a different quality of the game and, of course, the most important thing, to bring results. I am convinced that if we do these things and the number of supporters who will occupy the <Dan Paltinisanu> arena will be much higher than what has happened in the last period, because we are the ones who can make things happen in this direction“, said Nicolae Croitoru, the new head coach of the white-violet team. He has signed a deal valid until the summer of 2023 with our club.
“I am honoured and delighted to be part of the Politehnica Timisoara team staff and I am convinced that under the guidance of Mr. Professor the long-awaited results will come. I want to say that I am convinced that we will do a good job. The boys look good, they are good, I spent a bit more time than Mr. Professor with them at the beginning, I like what I see, what I feel here. Hopefully this bodes well“, concluded “second” Lucian Dobre.
As for the old staff, Petru Țurcaș has opted for the position of goalkeeping coach for the women’s team of Politehnica, in League I.

Our team will leave the city tomorrow and will train on Friday in Pitesti before the important championship match against Unirea Slobozia, scheduled for Saturday.
“Surely it is the aspect that concerns us most at the moment – the game with Slobozia. It will be a difficult game, without a doubt, because we meet an opponent with a slightly better path, after an excellent start to the season. They’ve accumulated just one point in the last four rounds. But it’s true that in the last four rounds they played against the top four, difficult games. They played against Petrolul, the first defeat, 2-0, a game in which they took risks in the second half… against Hermannstadt, a game that I watched again and in which they posed enough problems in the second half. To conclude, this is a good team, with a good coach, a team that at least in home games manages to put considerable pressure on the opponent. They are interesting players, experienced players, young players, we played against them in the Cup, we got a positive result and that’s very important. At least from a mental point of view, at the same time I’m convinced that the team they’ll be playing on Saturday will be a bit different. The wing midfielders will be different, Mustacă and Bolohan, players they used during the championship, will come in. Probably Cruceru in midfield. Dinu at centre-back, the strikers, Stoica, players who didn’t play in the Romanian Cup matches“, explained Nicolae Croitoru.
Sebastian Serediuc is the only player who remains medically unavailable in Politehnica’s camp.
The match Unirea Slobozia – Politehnica Timisoara will be played on Saturday at 11:00 in the 10th round of League 2 and will be broadcast on our club’s YouTube page. The Ialomians are in 8th place with 12 points, while our team is in 13th position with ten points accumulated. The white-violets have a positive record in the games played so far at the “1 Mai” arena in Slobozia, a draw in the last season and the recent 1-0 success in the round of 16 of the Romanian Cup.
