Politehnica Timisoara has resumed one of the club’s most popular initiatives in recent years: Poli comes to the schoolyard! Together with the partners of Sport21, the white-violet team came today to the sports field of Peciu Nou High School and the joy of the students, young and old, was immense.

Cautious because of the pandemic, actions of this kind have been missing for a while from the life of our team. Until today, when together with the authorities and respecting the measures in force, we managed to bring the police to about 23 kilometers from Timisoara to enjoy their young supporters from Peciu Nou.

At 11 o’clock sharp the schoolyard was quickly populated. For an hour, Scuti and company became the centre of attention. Our players were asked for autographs and photos on “automatic fire”. The highlight was the demonstration game between the students of the Liceu Teoretic Peciu Nou and Politehnica, formed by Murariu – Scutaru, Radu, Lazăr, Hațegan, Ursu and Ignea, who joined later. Harrison, Oanea and Bîrnoi were also present on the sidelines, either as back-up solutions or to support their colleagues. The anthems and songs of Politehnica resounded from the stands. From the sidelines flags, made at the ad-hoc workshop set up by Druckeria volunteers near the pitch, were waved and chanted for Poli, but also for Peciu and the younger team “wanted victory more”. Tavi’s tiz, Andrei opened the scoring and the guests didn’t even wake up when Radu Ovidiu made it 2-0. Hațegan and O. Ursu restored parity, but the same Andrei and Ovidiu restored the two-goal difference in the second half. Andrei Ganea, for the hosts, respectively Hațegan, the most requested for autographs (for some reason) and Lazăr, set the final score – you do the math!

Great joy after the last whistle of our “second” – Luci Dobre, referee of occasion. Besides, the policemen had all the technical staff, headed by Nicolae Croitoru, who surely detected the potential of the locals. Denis Marcu – Mihai Oltean, Zoran Carac, Andrei Ganea, Toni Bozbici, Ovidiu Radu, Onisim Hotea, Andrei Ursu, Flavius Titu and Valentin Lungu (the last two being teachers), represented with honour the Timisian community. The high school team was also rewarded with a full set of playing equipment from the white-violet team.

“They came with an eagerness to play, and so did we, it was a nice action. We also remember when we were in high school watching football on TV, seeing players and walking on the fields. It was a pleasure to be with the kids, to see them happy… I honestly didn’t expect to be welcomed like this, I’m glad there are kids who really love sports and football. We encourage children to go to sports, not necessarily football, any sport, because it helps“, said Rareș Murariu, Politehnica’s goalkeeper.

In conclusion, a successful day, in which the love for Poli in the whole Banat came out again, and a day that will surely be repeated in the next period in other schools in Timisoara and Timis.
