Under 16: Politehnica Timisoara – Ripensia Timisoara 1-0 (photo)
The Polites under 16s won the U16 Elite League play-off replay in the city derby against “Ripi”. The only goal of the match was scored by Kevin Antal in the 79th minute. Our team remained in 3rd position in the 4th Series with 31 points now. Interestingly, at Politehnica’s request, the next match – away against Transilvania Bistrița – will be played earlier than originally scheduled. That is to say on Friday, 25 March, from 16:00. This is because the U16 team will take part the next day in the events dedicated to the inauguration of the new Giulești with a game against Rapid U16.
“The people from Bistrita helped us to participate in an important event. That’s how we motivated the Romanian Football Federation, it’s important for us and for them. The children will practically play their first match on the new stadium in Giulești. It’s really a nice event!”, said Cristi Gălan, coach of Politehnica U16.
Politehnica U16: Matei – Vela, Tătaru, A. Vlaicu, Imbroane – Leczki, Roșca (captain), Avrămescu – Hus, Boariu, Erceanu. Semenciuc and Antal also came on. Coach: Cristian Gălan.
Qualified for the national Top 16!
Under 15: Politehnica Timisoara – Juventus Timisoara 1-0
It was also a very good weekend for our youngest team in the Elite League. Politehnica U15 won in the penultimate round of Series 11 with 1-0 (goal Călin Fazekaș) against Juventus and secured 1st place and also qualification to the quarter-finals, along with the other 15 series winners. In the last round of the regional phase, Paul Codrea’s white-violet team will face the second placed team – ACS Galaxy Timisoara – away. The game is scheduled for Sunday, 27 March, from 10:00 at the Galaxy Timisoara Sports Centre.
“The objective was to beat Timisoara and get into the quarter-finals, then hopefully even more, since we qualified! In the next round there will be a tournament, it remains to be seen where they will play, in which city. The top two will qualify… We know the teams in the country, there’s not that big a difference between us and them. It also depends on which series we will play in”, said Paul Codrea, coach of Politehnica U16.
Politehnica U15: Păsule – Fotoniu, Goia, Cercel, An. Mircea – Kulcsar, Al. Matei, Angelo Radu – F. Roșu, B. Bratu, Șteta (captain). The following players also came on: Bojin, Fazekas, Chis and Nagy. Coach: Paul Codrea.
