Politehnica Timisoara resumes the League 2 championship with a tough away trip from all points of view. On Saturday, the white-violets meet FK Csikszereda Miercurea Ciuc away in the second round of the play-out.

“After a week’s break the play-out games resume, the game in Miercurea Ciuc follows. It’s perhaps the most difficult game in this series of five that we still have to play, taking into account that we meet a team that narrowly missed the play-off… I’ve been watching them, but there are also quite a lot of unknowns. The fact that there’s been a coaching change. Even though Francisc Dican worked in the club before, but he worked in another position (n. technical director). It remains to be seen how they will approach the competition. And here I’m referring primarily to the squad, to the first 11. Because we all know that Csikszereda also has a very good academy and there is also the possibility that some of the youngsters from the academy will appear in the starting line-up. However, we have to be ready for anything, because there are three extremely important points at stake and we are not in a situation where we can afford to make wrong steps”, said Nicolae Croitoru, coach of Politehnica Timisoara.

“We have a very long trip ahead of us, a difficult match, there are three points we must win. We have worked very well this week, we are all motivated and we are going there to get the three points. All the matches with them have been tough, that’s the charm, we go to win, come home happy”, said Claudiu Pamfile.

The left fullback of the white-violet also spoke about the positive experience he and his teammates had on the occasion of the inauguration of Rapid’s new stadium: “It helped us a lot in terms of morale, a beautiful stadium, we hope to see such things in Timisoara soon and, you can imagine, it was a joy for everyone!”.

Our team is not without medical problems before the trip to Miercurea Ciuc. Balsa Rogosic and Andrei Sîntean, both affected by a strong virus, will certainly be missing. “… both are ill. Sîntean came today, but without training. He has been ill since yesterday. Rogosic since today”, said Nicu Croitoru.

The Politehnica coach praised the qualification of the U19 national team for EURO 2022, a performance to which Timisoara midfielder Doru Andrei also contributed. “(…) We also had Andrei Doru, he came on in the second game, he did very well, with the host team, Croatia, and he did well, that can only make us happy. We can say that a part of the victory is also ours, of the club Poli Timisoara. Denis Radu was also in the enlarged squad for this trip, he was in doubt until the last minute… the competition remains open for the final tournament. Doru and Denis have an extra motivation to continue preparing very well to go to Slovakia”, concluded Croitoru, who was the “second in command” of coach Adrian Văsâi until autumn.

The match FK Csikszereda Miercurea Ciuc – Politehnica Timisoara will be played on Saturday at 11:00 in the second round of the play-out of League 2. The white-violets are in 4th place in Group A with 24 points, while the Harghitans are in first place with 33 points and one game in hand. In the regular season the Ciucans won 2-1 at the “Dan Paltinisanu” arena, while the last game in Miercurea Ciuc ended in a 2-2 draw in the play-off of the 2020-21 season.
