We are delighted to announce that Gheorghe Bucur officially returns to the pitch in the colours of Politehnica Timisoara. After his convincing performance in the “old boys” duel between Rapid and Poli, in which he opened the scoring, the Bucharest striker accepted our offer. He signed until the end of the season, with the right to an extension.
Gigel Bucur was born on April 8, 1980, in Bucharest, and does not need too many introductions for the supporters of the city. He played for Sportul Studențesc, FC Politehnica Timișoara, Kuban Krasnodar (Russia) and, last time, until the summer of 2019, he played for Voința Crevedia, in the fourth division. On Bega he was national vice-champion (2009) and finalist in the Romanian Cup (2007 and 2009) and for the national team he has four goals scored in 26 appearances. On two occasions he won the title of top scorer of the League I.
“In 2019 I put my boots on the ground, but I was left with the thought that I still had something to offer, it wasn’t a proper retirement. After last Saturday’s game I had a chat, everyone told me I could help Timisoara and I didn’t think too much about it. Especially since I am good friends with Scuti and Ion, I can say that they convinced me!”, Gigel Bucur
Welcome back, Gigele!
