Politehnica Timișoara lost the game against FK Csikszereda in the second round of the League 2 play-out. The hosts from Miercurea Ciuc won 3-0 after the score was blank at half-time.

The game in Harghita started with a slight domination of the hosts, who also scored an important chance after 17 minutes. Gal-Andrezly was found on the right flank behind the white-violet defence, but sent an angled shot in the direction of Devenish-Meares, well positioned at the short corner.

Gradually the white-violet levelled the contest in midfield and it was even they who pressed more until half-time. In the 23rd minute Vukoje shot from outside the box, low and wide of the goal. Then, towards the end of the half, Ursu had two chances. First he sent well over the goal from distance, then immediately at the next phase he failed to find the right solution to a promising opportunity in the opponent’s box.

The second half started with a great chance for Poli, but Gerbi (52 mins) headed over the goal from a corner. In the 61st minute Ursu shot wide from an angle. Somewhat against the course came the opening phase: a ball sent into the box in the 63rd minute led to a collision between Harrison and Gal-Andrezly and referee Sorin Vădana gave a penalty and yellow card to our goalkeeper. Petre Ivanovici (64) converted the spot-kick with a shot to his right. It was then 2-0 in the 82nd minute after a recovery and a shot from outside the box sent by Lorant Kovacs near Harrison’s right bar. Moreover, after a counter-attack, the first minute of extra time also saw the final score set: 3-0 through Levente Bara, after the ball had fallen to Hernando, the author of the cross.

Following this defeat Politehnica returns to 5th position in group A of the play-out, still with 24 points. In the next round our team will stay. The next championship game will be at home against CSC Șelimbăr, 4th place, with 27 points now.
