Politehnica Timisoara will end Group A of the League 2 play-out with a long trip to Moldova, in the stronghold of Politehnica Iasi. It will be the last official game of the white-violet team before the “double” with FC Brasov in the play-off for the second division.
“It’s a game between two teams with different moods. Iașiul, in their last home appearance, are quiet because from a standings point of view nothing can happen. On the other hand, we, who have the last game before the play-off – the championship final – an unwanted one, it’s true, but a final that must find us at full capacity,” said Nicolae Croitoru, Politehnica’s head coach.
“It’s the last round of the championship, but for us it’s also a final test before the play-offs. We meet a good team with experienced players who are very dangerous in the set-pieces. We all want to get a positive result, to give us confidence, to give us peace of mind to prepare for the play-offs”, said midfielder Alexandru Iamandache.
The young attacking player has had some good performances in recent games. “I adapted very well and quite quickly, the guys integrated me, they are great guys. I would like to thank them for that!”, said “Iama”, who joined the team in winter.
In the north-east of Moldova, the Blue and Whites will be missing several players. “We hope that from next week we will solve them, so that for the game against Brasov we will have the whole lot at our disposal”, added Nicu Croitoru. Captain Ioan Mera is suspended, while Zaluschi, Olariu, Sofran and Pamfile have medical problems. “We decided not to force him, this week he continued his treatment. We hope that from next week he will enter the normal program with the team”, concluded the technician about the latter.
The match Politehnica Iasi – Politehnica Timisoara will be played on Saturday, May 7, at 12.45 pm (televised on Digi Sport 1, Orange Sport 1 and Prima Sport 1), in the 7th (last) round of the League 2 play-out. In Group A, the Moldovans are 4th with 33 points, while our team is 5th with 28 points.
“I think we have to prepare very well, we have to be positive, we have to approach training and games with confidence. That’s where the results come from. No matter how much we pray or whatever, I don’t think it can help us. Of course we can say that in the last game we had some bad luck. We created quite a lot of chances, we didn’t manage to score, there were also the two missed penalties. I’d add the one in Braila, but I’m sure we’ll get over that too. That’s why I said last week that we need a good game (ed. with Metaloglobus) to give us confidence. We also needed a win to give us confidence. We didn’t manage to get the win, but I think that this time the game was a good one, at least in the first half, and I’m convinced that if we continue in the same way, the results will come!”, Nicolae Croitoru, Politehnica Timișoara head coach.
