Politehnica lost today’s friendly at the “Auto” stadium against Steaua Rosie Vars, 1-2 (0-0), after a game played with different lines in the two halves.

As in previous training games this summer our team dominated. Benzar had the biggest chance of the first half, but Borta was denied the opener in the 31st minute, and the first half ended goalless. In the second half, the guests managed to make it 0-1 following a counter-attack finished by D. Jivan (min. 60) with a shot to the left of Murariu. We still had great chances, including a crossbar from Marco Mircea’s header (81) and a miss then through Teodorescu, who also equalized a little later from in front of the goal (min. 85) following a ball that went along the Ignea-Pamfile route. Immediately, Ignea was denied a fine strike by the intervention of Harrison, who defended the opposition goal in the second half. Then, in a phase that did not herald danger, a penalty was awarded in the opposite box and D. Forghici (90) set the final score with an execution on the middle of the goal from the spot.

Among those who didn’t play today were Adrian Zaluschi and Sebastian Serediuc (separate training), the latter returning after a long injury, while Doru Andrei will be back next week with his teammates after participating in the European U19.

“The important thing is that we trained and played. Unfortunately we can’t find opponents from higher leagues. League 3 hasn’t started, League 2, the same… we had to get our bearings, find League 4, League 5 opponents. A useful test, we made an effort, we tried to play. We saw pretty much what the pluses and minuses are, the qualities of the players, who played in the two halves in today’s game and last week’s game. For me, useful, because I see pretty much who can, who can’t, physically, mentally, what we want to play in the future… Unfortunately, if we want to change things for the better, to be able to create a good team, in the future, we’ll have to keep cutting into the meat. I don’t like it, but I will have to do it. We’ll see, probably on Wednesday we’ll draw the line, before we leave for the training camp, and we’ll see which players we’ll rely on in the training camp in Slovenia. For the most part it will also be the players with whom we will approach the new season. The team doesn’t score, absolutely not, we noticed in previous seasons, Poli scored very very few goals.
