We are pleased to announce that Politehnica Timisoara has reached an agreement with Octavian Benga to take over as head coach of the white-violet team.
Octavian Cătălin Benga was born on August 8, 1980, in Reșița. He was a junior international and played as a player for Poli Timisoara and CSM Reșița (Division A). He gave up his career on the pitch early due to a serious knee injury. As a coach, he worked in the youth centres of FC Timișoara and ACS Poli (at different age groups), was “second” at Unirea Sânnicolau Mare (L2), Victoria Brănești (L2), ACS Poli (promotion to League I) and CS Universitatea Craiova (winner of the Romanian Cup and Supercup 2020-21). As head coach he has coached ACS Poli II (promotion to L4), CSM Reșița, CSC Ghiroda (both L3), Politehnica Timișoara and Viitorul Pandurii Tg. Jiu (both L2).
In his first term on the bench of the Blue and Whites (between 6 November 2019 and 11 November 2020) he has recorded 10 wins, 7 draws and only two defeats in 19 official matches.
Tavi Benga will give his first statements at a press conference that our club will organize in the coming days.
