The football event “Today in Timisoara, tomorrow all over the country – Heroes never die” is at its first edition.

It will be held at Garden Park Elementary, Garden Grove, Orange County, USA, on Saturday, December 17, starting at 10 AM Pacific Standard Time.

After the cutting of the old flag from the flag and a minute’s silence, the first match of the day will be between supporters representing Ripensia Timisoara & their guests vs. local supporters of Politehnica Timisoara & their guests.

This first match will count for the Timișoara Revolution Memorial trophy, dedicated to the martyred heroes of Timișoara, the first city in the motherland to take to the streets in December 1989.

The second match of the day will be between the team defeated in the first match and a local team of Romanians from the San Diego area.

The third and final match of the day will feature the winner of the first match and the San Diego local team.

The final results (from regulation playing time, 30 minute halves) will count towards the final standings, on points, with 3 to win, 1 to draw and 0 to lose.

The trophy that will be awarded at the end of the tournament to the winner is dedicated to the martyred heroes of ’89 from all over the country – Romanian Revolution Memorial.

In the evening, starting at 6:30 PM Pacific Standard Time, there will be a “third round” at the local Romanian restaurant Danube for a festive dinner.

The event is organized by Narcis Drăgan, Claudiu Petrea and Marius Tomescu, Romanian fans based in the US.
