Following the information that appeared in the public space, according to which several football players from Timis, including two footballers recently transferred by our team (Andrei Fagărășanu and Andrei Mura), are under investigation by the Romanian Football Federation for participating in sports betting, SSU Politehnica Timisoara communicates the following:
1. Both players in question are under investigation for past offences committed in the jerseys of other teams, so the association of the image with Poli Timisoara is forced and biased. We consider it an unfair attack that has no connection with reality. Within our club, players are educated and trained to fully respect the rules of the game of football, the supporters, the authorities, the local community and the sport they love (football). Our values are clearly defined and through an ongoing training process we pass them on in our organisation to all members, from the technical staff to the youngest player in the Academy. We never disown our people, but we strongly condemn and sanction any deviation from the above. We offer support and support to our players in order to direct them towards a successful career, as many players who have passed through Banat have succeeded under the blue and white colours.
2. Everyone, whether a football player or not, has the right to privacy and is directly responsible for his actions. Poli Timisoara cannot control anyone’s life, it can only be an example of good practice and excellence, as our 102-year history has confirmed many times. When we are wrong, we take it honestly and try to make things right. This is the only way we can move towards the society we all want. But we cannot be blamed or held responsible for the actions of others, even if they sometimes have an effect on our own organisation.
3. We support the authorities wherever necessary to promote social values. We are open and reliable partners and will continue to do so, including in this case.
4. We strongly condemn any deviation from the Laws of the Game. We all want a healthy climate in which we can develop this phenomenon in Romania and together achieve the performances we want.
We will come back with further details when the investigation is completed.
