The Politehnica Timisoara football team won the 11th round of the 3rd League after another superb match played, as it is already becoming a habit, at home.

It was 6-1 (3-1) against Șoimii Lipova, a candidate to qualify for the play-off! After the guests opened the scoring (Petruț, 11th min.), Pureca equalised (25th min.). Then the Polist goal scorer David Popa came into his own. He scored a hat-trick. The first two goals came from penalties converted in just two minutes (36-38), then in the 59th minute from action. In the meantime, in min. 45+3, the Hawks were down to 10 men, with Șimăndan sent off. Marincu, a newcomer (78th min.), and Prună (90th min.) also scored. Immediately after the final whistle there was an altercation between players of the two teams.

For the guests, the newcomer Blickling had to be replaced after only 12 minutes, because he suffered a broken arm, and the reserve goalkeeper, Ovidiu Pașcalău (41 years old!) is even the father of Patrick Pașcalău, the striker introduced to Poli! The Falcons’ coach, Cristian Todea, has been suspended. Denis Tătaru (b. 2006) made his debut for Poli, a junior in his own centre, the son of former Politehnica centre-back Petre Tătaru in 1998. D. Ciurel (suspended) and Tudoran (injured) could not be counted on, while Taub was dropped.

Politehnica: Murariu – Haloș, Bocșan (c) (71, D. Tătaru), Vlaicu, R. Ciurel – Prună, Pureca (79, Adam), Olariu – Curescu (64, M. Oprea), D. Popa (71, P. Pașcalău), Mura (64, Marincu) Reserves: Miklos – Rotariu, D. Roșu. Coach: Paul Codrea.
