Politehnica Timisoara football team won 1-0 (1-0) against Progres Pecica in the 17th round of the 3rd League.

The only goal of the match was scored by goal scorer David Popa in the 22nd minute, when he shot from the penalty box after a pass from Pamfile. The 13th goal scored by the white-violet striker in this championship! The hosts could have equalised in the 90+5th minute, when the ex-polist Bozian sent a direct free-kick into the bar.

Timisoara were accompanied to the match by many fans from the South Lawn.

“It wasn’t a very spectacular match. Because the pitch isn’t in very good condition either, at least it wasn’t today. We managed to score, then we managed to defend quite compactly. They didn’t have great chances, just from set pieces and at the end they put a bit of pressure… Even though they dominated territorially. It was also tactical, we had given away a goal and it was clear we were trying to catch them on the counter-attack. I’m impressed by the work they put in. But if there was one, Curescu, a soulful player, we hope he’s ok, he’s ok, but he still needs to do a check. But the whole team worked, Bocșan came out with cramps, David Popa worked like a quarterback. The whole team sacrificed and that’s the only way we can get important results, when everyone sacrifices. It doesn’t mean that because we won here we won’t come back once or twice. There’s no big difference between us and Peciu or us and Oradea, anyone can beat anyone.”
