Politehnica Timișoara will play on Saturday, March 8, at 15.00, at the “Electrica” arena, the first official home game since 2025. The white-violets’ opponent is CSC Ghiroda and Giarmata Vii, a group in second place in Series 9 of League 3, two points ahead of our team.
The next game can be seen as a “six-pointer” in terms of the league table – Poli need a win to stay within touching distance of qualifying for the play-offs. In the second leg, CSC Ghiroda won 2-1 (0-1).
“There are a few games left to play for the play-off or play-out and then it’s clear that we need victories to stay in this race. Now the importance is self-evident, there’s no point emphasizing it anymore. Including us, including the players, everyone knows the importance of this game. Especially as we are coming after the first leg, in which the hostilities unfolded as they did. I think the boys will play a good game because they are ready for this.
I don’t think we have to take a revenge, because that’s not what it’s about, we actually have to win the game. In the second leg we played a good game, very good at times, we were unlucky with the red card, which changed the game a little bit, but I think this game will be good for us, because we are ready for this.
We didn’t put any emphasis on that (mental side) because there’s no point in loading the players with more tension than there is anyway. It exists because of the ranking itself because they know what they have to do and we don’t need to put any extra pressure.
I would like to have a full stadium, which will be in white-violet, because the boys deserve it, they have had in the last games, starting with last year’s games and this first game we played in Arad, a very good performance, they deserve to be supported, they deserve to be encouraged and to feel that all this atmosphere is for them,” said Cristian Gălan, head coach of Politehnicii.
Aurel Vlaicu, who was suspended in the last round, will be back in the starting line-up, while another junior, midfielder Cosmin Mihăescu (eliminated in the Youth Cup), will be missing for the same reason.
“We have some medical problems, slight, it’s been a good week of training, we still have two more practices. We hope to be in the best possible shape at game time, because we have to be. We meet a good opponent and we need to be in good shape”, Cristi Gălan added.
The game Politehnica Timișoara – CSC Ghiroda and Giarmata Vii will be played on Saturday, from 3.00 pm, at the “Electrica” stadium, in the 17th round of League 3, Series 9, penultimate of the regular season. Before this game the Ghiroda team is in 2nd place with 30 points, while the white-violets are in 4th with 28 points. The game will be broadcast on our official channel YouTube.com/PolitehnicaTimișoara1921. A moment of silence will be held before the first whistle of the match in memory of the former player Răzvan Ionilă.
Due to the fact that the game takes place on March 8, ladies will have free access to the 2nd stand of the Electrica stadium. Tickets for grandstand 2 are already available online on the Bilete.ro portal: tinyurl.com/BiletePOLIvGhiroda.
