On Friday, April 4, Politehnica Timisoara has its first trip in the play-off of the 2024-25 edition of League 3. The white-violets play on the field of Progresului Pecica in the third stage of this phase of the championship.
“It will definitely be a very tough match. I saw them last stage at Ghiroda, they are a very good team, an aggressive team, very well organized, which knows what it has to do and it will definitely be a very tough match“, said Cristian Gălan, head coach of Politehnicii Timișoara.
The team from Aarab, in 4th place in the play-off Series 9 of League 3, is the only team that hasn’t suffered a defeat against Poli this season. However, our team did qualify for the third round of the Romanian Cup, right on the banks of the Mures river, after a penalty shootout. A home draw and a narrow 0-1 defeat in the regular season’s second leg followed, as well as the last direct meeting.
“I said before the game against Lupeni, these games are not like the ones we played in the regular championship. They are a different type of games, they are games with a much higher load and obviously every game that we approach in this play-off we approach it with the thought of winning and of managing to play a good game“, said Cristi Gălan.
After a very long time, the white-violets will play in the championship on a Friday, more precisely since October 4, 2024, when our team won in Periam (3-0).
“First of all we have to be ready no matter on which day we play, that’s out of the calculation, that it messes with the day we play. We are ready, we are still preparing, we still have training today and tomorrow until the game. We’re on schedule for now… All the guys are fine, they’ve been training normally all week, we’re looking forward to the game. We know what game awaits us, we know it’s going to be a very tough game,” added the coach.
“We are happy to see so many people at the game, even if at the beginning of the championship, when people were very skeptical of what we can offer as a game, as a team, there were fewer people at the pitch, as the stages go by in the championship and we go up in the standings, it seems that we have brought more people with us, which makes us happy. It means that we are doing things right, it means that people appreciate the work that the lads are putting in every single moment of their time and that’s a credit to us, that they are coming out in increasing numbers. And we are expecting them in Pecica as many as possible!“, concluded Cristian Gălan also referring to the last record number of spectators at a home match this season.
The match Progresul Pecica – Politehnica Timisoara will be played on Friday, April 4, from 17.00, in the third round of the play-off of Series 9 of League 3. Before this game, the white-violets are in first place with 38 points, while the hosts from Arad county are in fourth place with 31 points.
