Politehnica Timisoara won on Saturday, 5-3 (2-1), on the field of their team-mate CS Timisul Șag, in the last game before the start of the League 3 championship.
The “Alb-violets” started very well both halves at the “Comunalul” in Șag. In the first half, Iosif Liviu Rotariu scored with a shot under the bar from outside the box after five minutes of play. From the 10th minute it was 2-0 for Poli after David Ciurel won the battle with an opponent on the ball sent well in front of goal by Denis Boariu. After the hydration break, in the 19th minute, a former blue-and-white, Adrian Zaluschi, reduced the deficit with a rebound from the box after a good cross from the right. The hosts had several chances in the second half, but Drăghici and Zaluschi failed to beat Octavian Mosoarcă.
The second half started similarly to the first, with two Timisoara goals. First the same Rotariu (min. 49) surprised Mereu with a lob from distance after an unfortunate clearance by the goalkeeper. And just two minutes later Sebastian Avramescu was left alone with the same goalkeeper and placed the ball to his left. Coach Cristi Gălan almost completely changed the team after an hour’s play. However, Poli scored in the new formation as well, making it 5-1 in the 66th minute when Bogdan Istratie spectacularly headed into the bottom corner from a half-cleared cross from junior David Rosca. The hosts then reduced the deficit through Sergiu Românu (72) – a long-corner shot; and Alex Munteanu (80), who converted a penalty after a duel with goalkeeper Enășescu in the box.
For Politehnica follows the duel of the first stage of League 3 Series 9, away against Minerul Lupeni, scheduled for Saturday, August 31, at 18.00.

“A pretty good game, we could have been even better and more consistent in the game and avoided some of the mistakes we made, but I think that also because of the youth, probably with time and the games played they will grow even more in some aspects and we will manage to be a nice group. The match in Lupeni is waiting for us and we are going there without much information about them. We only know that they’ve taken some players now in the last period, they’ve basically made a new team and this makes us have a certain approach in the void, we don’t know exactly what is waiting for us“, said Cristian Gălan, Politehnicii’s head coach.
About the arrival of goalkeeper Octavian Mosoarcă (23), last at CSC Ghiroda and Giarmata Vii and who was already training with the Alb-violeții, as well as about the summer’s acquisitions, Cristi Gălan said, “I am pleased that we managed to bring in a goalkeeper, because the youngsters need an experienced colleague, although Tavi is not too old either. In general I’m happy with the players we have because these players wanted to be here with all their heart and that makes me believe that they can do even more and offer you more than the players you bring in and maybe they come for other circumstances or reasons.“
