Politehnica Timisoara play away on Friday against CSC Ghiroda and Giarmata Vii in the 8th round of League 3, Series 9.

We have in recent years more and more matches with them. Indeed, last season it was the play-off matches, which didn’t leave us with fond memories, because we didn’t manage to advance. It’s definitely going to be a tight game, because we’re playing an experienced team with an experienced coach. Plus everyone has in mind what happened last year“, said Cristian Gălan, Politehnicii’s head coach.

Poli and Ghiroda met last season in the promotion play-off semi-finals. The “Galben-alben-albaștrii” won at “Electrica” with 2-0 in the second leg, while in the second leg the “alb-violeleții” won at the “Emilian Pavel” arena only 1-0, so that the neighbors from east of Timișoara qualified for the final of the promotion play-off for promotion to League 2 (lost to FC Bihor).

Unfortunately, midfielder Victor Prună suffered a serious knee injury in Monday’s training session and joined the list of medically unavailable players, which also includes goalkeeper Octavian Mosoarcă and defenders Radu Ciurel and Cosmin Huminic (players in different stages of recovery).

We have an MRI appointment for Victor, his leg didn’t look very good at the time of his injury. We’re very sorry for his injury, just as we’re sorry for the injuries of the others, who have been out for a while. They are important players for us and we have to manage without them. None of the injured players have returned. Tavi is still on the sidelines, he is training but he is training at a low capacity,” explained Cristi Gălan.

Lately our team has started to use as much as possible the “Adrian Stoicov” pitch, which is located inside the “Dan Paltinisanu” stadium and Politehnica Base 2. “We are trying to put the Stoicov base field back into use because we have been working on it for the last three months, now it is looking better and better, and unfortunately Dan Paltinișanu is much worse than the Stoicov base field. We try to be at the Stoicov base at several times, we go to Base 2 whenever we need the facilities there”, concluded the head coach of the White-Violets.

“It will be a balanced match, a match with two teams that will definitely want to win because we have to be in the top flight and then both teams will want to win the game. We’ll see at game time which team is better prepared to do so”, Cristian Gălan, head coach Politehnica Timisoara

The match between CSC Ghiroda and Giarmata Vii – Politehnica Timisoara will be played on Friday, October 18, at 15.00, at the “Emilian Pavel” stadium, in the VIII round of League 3, Series 9 (penultimate round of the regular season). Before this round the two teams are tied on points, 10 each, with the white-violets occupying a superior position, 5, thanks to the superior goal difference.
