Politehnica Timișoara was defeated, 1-2, away from CSC Ghiroda and Giarmata Vii, in the 8th round of League 3. The Bianconeri led 1-0 until the 90th minute, but the hosts turned the result after 35 minutes of numerical superiority.
Our team could have opened the scoring as early as the 8th minute, but Marincu’s shot from Popa’s pass was denied by Flonta. It would be 1-0 for Poli in the 21st minute after a penalty awarded to Amariei, who was fouled in the box by Ad. Ilie. Bogdan Istratie scored from the penalty spot with a shot to the goalkeeper’s left. Four minutes later, Marincu’s shot deflected under the bar and Flonta himself denied Flonta for a corner. And at the other goal Enășescu saved two shots, one of them in the 17th minute. The score remained unchanged until half-time as Cristian Gălan’s team controlled the game quite well.
At the restart, after 55 minutes of play, Vlaicu lost a loose ball, fouled near midfield and saw his second warning, being thus eliminated by the “center” Alexandru Șuvar. After this moment Pureca was lowered in the center of the defense, while Ghiroda pushed more and more in attack. Enășescu had several excellent interventions, while Fridrich’s healthy shot (63rd minute) went just over the crossbar. In the 90th minute, Jichici managed to deflect another ball into the box into the far corner for 1-1, after which goalkeeper Flonta, already warned for the penalty, challenged the white-violet gallery from behind the goal, but was not penalized. Five minutes later the same Jichici was found in the bottom corner with a re-center from the box, from where he scored with a long-corner shot. At 2-1 to the hosts, the policemen went on the attack and in the 90+8th minute Amariei was again fouled in the box, but a corner was awarded!
After this defeat, the second in this championship, Poli are left with 10 points and are now in 7th place in Serie 9 of League 3. For the white-violets follow two home games in a row. First against Timișul Șag, on Saturday, October 26, at 3 p.m., in the last round of the regular season, then against Minerul Lupeni, in the first round of the second leg.

“Unfortunately a lot of times when you change things on the field, maybe negative, maybe positive. Unfortunately for us today they were negative because the players who came on in the last minutes maybe could have brought more energy. I thought so, because we were down to ten men and we needed more energy. But by the end we didn’t seem to last. In the last five minutes the opposing team came a lot on top of us and we couldn’t resist their fixed actions or balls coming from the side“, said Cristian Gălan, Politehnicii’s head coach.
On the elimination of Aurel Vlaicu, Gălan said, “Aurel must understand that he has some very good qualities but he often has to simplify his game because there are some repeated mistakes he makes and this will keep him down and he will not be able to perform to the true value of his qualities… and then he will be kept down by certain things“.
“It was a pretty quiet game until we had a man sent off. The first half was one in which we didn’t see too much adversity, in the way of them causing us problems, them by their play and us by mistakes and so on. But after the 60th minute, when Aurel got the red card, the course of the game changed a little bit because they came with more value on the field from the sidelines, they came with many balls into the box and the game went in their favor”, Cristian Gălan, head coach Politehnica Timisoara.
In today’s game, junior David Rosca, born in 2006, made his league debut (he also played in the Romanian Cup) for Poli, a youngster from Politehnica Academy.
