It has been a summer with many unknowns for our club. We know that there has been silence regarding the senior team, on the official communication channels, that’s why, first of all, we want to thank our supporters for their patience and we want to assure them that all those involved in the Politehnica Timisoara – UPT, AST Druckeria and Cramele Recaș project, along with all the other stakeholders, have been working throughout this competitive break. We wanted to come up with concrete things, after a hard, unwanted period, and in the next period we will announce more news. So, the first important news is that Politehnica has a new head coach.

We are happy to announce that our club has reached an agreement with Bogdan Andone. The coach from Ardele has signed a two-year contract with Politehnica Timișoara, with the right to extend for another season.

For the 47-year-old coach this is his second stint at the helm of our team’s bench. His first term in the blue and white took place in the 2017-18 edition of League 2, between 14 June 2017 and 14 March 2018. A period during which the “Boys in Boots” won half of the official matches played.

Bogdan Ioan Andone was born on 7 January 1975, in Aiud (Alba). He started his football career with Corvinul Hunedoara and played for Sportul Studențesc, FC Brașov, Rapid București (champion 1998-99), Farul Constanța, Oțelul Galați, Ferencvaros (winner of the Hungarian Cup 2002-03), Apollon Limassol (champion and winner of the Cypriot Super Cup 2005-06), Alki Larnaca and Ermis Aradippou (both in Cyprus).

As a coach, Andone trained FC Voluntari, Olimpia Satu Mare, Politehnica Timișoara, Metaloglobus București, Energeticianul (now Viitorul Pandurii), FCSB and AFC Astra. With the latter he finished 3rd in League I (2019-20 edition).

Our team is scheduled to meet on Thursday, 23 June, from 18.00 at the “Ştiinţa” arena.
