Chiajna, the most long-living ilfovean county team in league I

Concordia Chiajna was established in 1957. The names carried over time were GAC, AS and ILF Militari.

In 2006 he participated for the first time in the national divisional system, taking a place in D3, and in the following year, 2007, he was promoted to the Second League! In those last years of the first decade of the new millennium, the coach was the famous ex-international Ion Dumitru (born in the village of Roșu, in the commune of Chiajna), and among the players were other former “tricolors”, such as B. Vintilă, Fl Dumitru, Miu, or the future internationals L. Antal and Gardoș.

In 2011 it is promoted to the first echelon! After two years, he relegated, but remains in D1 due to a TAS decision, a decision that came after the start of the season. In 2019, after eight uninterrupted years in League I, he was relegated to the second league, occupying the last place, 14, in the elite.

In 2016 she was a finalist of the Romanian League Cup, 1-2 d.p. with Steaua (current FCSB).

The coach Laurențiu Reghecampf left Chiajna for Steaua, in 2012. Among the players who played for Concordia in D1 are Fl. Niță, Trică, P. Marin, Mihalcea, S. Paraschiv, Ghionea, Ad. Cristea, Maftei and Bălgrădean.

The rise of the team was due to the mayor of the locality, Mircea Minea.

The stadium, Concordia, in Chiajna, has 5,123 seats, artificial turf, and hosted the EC U19 junior final in 2011, Spain – Czech Republic 3-2 d.p.!

Chiajna is a commune west of Bucharest, the name of the commune coming from Mrs. Chiajna, daughter of Petru Rareș.

Until 2008, no team from Ilfov County had ever been in League I. Since then there have been no less than five (three of them from the communes)! CS Otopeni, Victoria Brănești, Concordia Chiajna, FC Voluntari, Academica Clinceni. Chiajna has the most elite editions, but the only trophies were won by Voluntariul, the Romanian Cup and the Romanian Super Cup, both in 2017.

Now, the coach of Chiajna is the former Dinamo international Claudiu Niculescu. The team will play in the play-out of this second league edition.

The last match between Poli and Chiajna was played in March last year, being the last one played by white-violets before the state of emergency. Concordia won, 2-1 at home.
