The white-violet team narrowly lost 0-1 to CSC Ghiroda and Giarmata Vii in Politehnica’s last test match before the resumption of League 2. The only goal of the match at the “Dan Paltinisanu” stadium was scored in the first half by Mihai Hecsko.

On a rather strong wind, the first opportunities were at the goal of the visitors, the leaders of the 8th Series of League 3. But headers from Bocșan (12th min.) and Ursu (29th min.) failed to reach their target. Our guests, instead, scored at the first notable chance they had. The Poles took the second half more seriously. In the 50th minute Ursu’s return shot was deflected into the corner by goalkeeper Mikloș and after 15 minutes Sîntean could not hit the goal from outside the box. Vukoje (68) was also close to a goal immediately after coming on and five minutes later Sîntean was fouled in the box in a one-on-one position with the goalkeeper, but the game continued.

It ended 0-1 and thus we note the only failure in the tests of this competitive break for our team. Politehnica’s next match will also be the first official duel of the new year, against the leader of League 2 – Petrolul Ploiesti – a game that counts for round 17 and is scheduled for Thursday, February 24, at 20:00, at the “Dan Paltinisanu” stadium. “Unfortunately we didn’t score a goal and we also looked pretty bad. At least in the first half we didn’t have any goals, we were chaotic… it was the last game and we were expecting something else… Even this week we were talking, we had freshness in training, we felt pretty good, but today in the game we didn’t look like we should. We even lost our composure at one point, at least in the first half, because in the second half things settled down. We had better organisation in the attacking phase, we lacked finishing. But in the first half we looked pretty bad, even if we came with some improvisations, given the injuries, we tried possible solutions for Thursday’s game”, said Nicolae Croitoru, Politehnica’s head coach.

“Maybe for some people it’s also a state of fatigue, maybe an instinct of self-preservation, maybe the fact that we treated the game more superficially, it’s hard to say now, but it’s certainly not what we all wanted. I can see them quite concerned”, said the coach of the blue and white team. He couldn’t count on Doru Andrei (knee pain), Alex Iamandache (fibril rupture) and Cosmin Bîrnoi, all injured. The latter is expected to resume training with his team-mates on Monday. In other news, full-back Denis Giosu is no longer training with our team.
