Politehnica was defeated by Rapid, score 1-2, after leading until the 87th minute of the match from the 3rd round of the League 2 play-off. Our team’s goal was scored by Alin Ignea, in the 30th minute.
The white-purples changed the system for the derby with Rapid and surprised the opposing team in the first minutes. Ignea was blocked at the edge of the box in the 4th minute and on the continuation of the phase Popovici resumed over Moldovan’s goal. Another important opportunity for our team was in the 26th minute, when Popovici’s cross was resumed with his head near the goal by Plazonja. Four minutes later Alin Ignea opened the scoring. Denis Radu’s cross from the 30th minute cut in the middle of the guests’ box and the Timisoara midfielder sent from the volley into the net from the long corner, from the left of the goalkeeper.
Rapid threatened Hindrich’s goal for the first time in the 53rd minute, when Sefer shot, but our goalkeeper rejected in the corner. Then Ivanovici (min. 69) shot dangerously from a distance, but did not score on the goal. But the end belonged to the guests. In the 85th minute Ursu put the ball into the goal of Bălan’s pass, but the flag was raised from the edge for an alleged offside. In the end, the “central” Eduard Ioniţă dictated a penalty (the only contact from the square being the one of inertia between Hindrich and Bălan). From the point with lime transformed Ad. Bălan in the 87th minute. Then, in the first minute of extra time, Sefer set the final score with a shot on foot after being left alone with our goalkeeper.
Following this defeat, Politehnica ranks 6th in the play-off area, with 33 points. The next match of our team will be on Monday, April 19, from 16.00, on the field of CS Mioveni.

“It was 88 minutes in which we played almost perfectly. It was a game I had in hand. I’ve made unforgivable mistakes in the last five minutes and that’s football. Rapid has good players who punish you when you make mistakes and that was about the history of the match. It’s frustrating because I really played well for 88 minutes, I had consistency, determination, I was very organized. We had a first half that belonged to us, but look, it’s not enough. “It was a match we had to win according to its appearance”, said Dan Alexa, the head coach of the Polytechnic, at the end.
