Politehnica Timisoara lost 0-1 at Unirii Slobozia in the 10th round of League 2.

On a torrential rain and on a waterlogged pitch, our team had the first chance of the match in the first minute, but Zaluschi’s rebound from the penalty area to Ignea’s free kick was inaccurate. The hosts were then more present in the Timisoara half and after three corners in a row, Trașcu finished wide three minutes later.

The 22nd minute brought a more dangerous phase at Murariu’s goal, who blocked Bolohan near the small box. The same goalkeeper was challenged two minutes later, but he pushed captain Constantin Toma’s free-kick over the goal. The game continued with the hosts attacking on the increasingly puddled pitch, while the white-violet tried a few counter-attacks without success.

The next important chance came in the last minute of the first half, when Murariu failed to hold a ball sent in from a free-kick from the side and the ball bounced off an opponent. A corner was awarded erroneously, but the resulting corner kick also failed to make an impact on the scoreboard.

Unirea started better in the second half and, after another corner, the ball was only cleared to Răzvan Greu, whose right-footed shot to Murariu’s left changed the score for the only time in the match. The hosts’ pressure eased after the opening goal, but Politehnica didn’t do very well on the waterlogged surface either. However, the 87th minute could have brought the equalizer, but Doru Andrei could not beat Gurău with a shot from 12 yards.

It ended 1-0 for Unirea Slobozia and Politehnica remains with 10 points in 13th place. For the white-violet team, the next match is next Saturday at home against Ripensia.
