Politehnica Timisoara ends the calendar year 2024 with a game also at the “Electrica” stadium, in the company of the last placed Avântul Periam. Interestingly, the team from the west of Timiș was the last team to meet on home ground last year, but then the match counted for the 14th round of the C8 and ended with a score of 5-2 for the white-violets.

Our team won 3-0 away to Periam, the same score recorded away to Avântul in the previous season.

“It’s an end of the year game and, from the things I’ve experienced first hand as a soccer player, they were some of the toughest games of the year because everyone is thinking maybe somewhere else and then we have to keep the players focused for the game coming up at the weekend. We cannot throw away the good run we have had in the last games and we have to live up to the expectations we have created in the last games,” said Cristian Gălan, Politehnicii’s head coach.

The match on Saturday, December 7, in the 15th round of League 3, Series 9, comes after the 103rd anniversary of the founding of Politehnica Timișoara Sports Society (December 4, 1921). “It was the same before Peciu, the club celebrated 103 years after a few days, now, after the celebration, the boys’ attitude must be the same plus they are looking better and better on the field. Something that makes us all happy and it is also visible in the results they are getting,” said Cristi Gălan.

The state of the Polist squad is similar to that of the previous matches from a medical point of view. “We have no suspensions, we have small injuries, we hope to have a full valid lot by the time of the game. Small injuries, with treatments, that the players are still having, but I hope by the time of the match we will all be fit. Some players are ok, others are feeling some aches and pains“, added the coach.

“Obviously Periamul is not the team that lost 10-0 to Peciu, certainly there was an unfavorable conjuncture for them to get in that situation and, as proof, the next stage they drew at home with Lupeni. This gives us some food for thought and should not make us too optimistic about an easy game. It will certainly be a very tough game, a game in which the team from Periam will come to win the game, because they need points. We also want to win, because we want to get into the top four, if possible by the end of the year, and continue our good run. It will certainly be an interesting game, but at the end of the game we have to be the ones who come out on top,” concluded Cristian Gălan.

The match Politehnica Timisoara – CS Avântul Periam will be played on Saturday, December 7, from 14.00, at the “Electrica” stadium, in the 15th round of League 3, Series 9 (the last of this calendar year). The Light Blues are in 5th place with 22 points, just two points off the play-off zone. The guest team, coached by Răzvan Leucă, is in 10th position, with 7 points.
