We are pleased to announce that Politehnica Timisoara has reached an agreement with Nicolae Croitoru to take over as head coach.
“I feel honored for this appointment. I could say that my football education started as a child with clubs like Politehnica Timișoara. I caught that period when CS Targoviste was also in the first league and was dueling with Paltinisanu, Nedelcu and so on… Politehnica Timișoara is the emblem of Banat and not only. I accepted because it is a very serious project and I hope and I am convinced that we will do very nice things“, said Nicolae Croitoru.
“I knew most of the players because I have played against them over the years. I remember very well that game (Politehnica – Chindia, score 3-4, in the first stage of the 2016-17 season), the gallery from that match has remained in my mind because it impressed me. Especially as I had followed the team’s journey from the 5th League onwards, and I think it’s still a unique case in Romanian football, where supporters have such an important contribution to the revitalisation of a team. And about that game, they really had an important contribution, they actually pushed the team from behind in the second half, at 0-4 everything seemed to be played, but suddenly the match blew up“, Nicolae Croitoru said.
Nicolae Croitoru was born on 15 February 1967, in Târgoviște (Dâmbovița). He holds a UEFA PRO licence and has worked as head coach at Urban Titu, Chindia Târgoviște and FC Pucioasa. With the team from Târgoviște he was promoted to League 2 (2014-15) and also participated in the promotion play-off to League I in the summer of 2018 (lost to Voluntari on penalties). Earlier in his coaching career he won the U19 national title with CSS Targoviste.
