Politehnica achieved today an important success in the championship, scoring 2-1 against CSA Steaua, in the 15th round of League 2. Head coach Nicolae Croitoru underlined how much the support from the stands mattered for the white-violet team and also spoke about the better play of his students in the second half.
“It was an important win, we need every point we put at stake. The situation in the standings obliges us. On the other hand, I think the level of play was also higher or at least the last games show us that we are growing. I have to mention that at least in the second half, the crowd was a big help. They really pushed us from behind – they were extraordinary“, said Nicolae Croitoru.
Asked what he told the players at half-time, Nicu Croitoru replied, “It seems that what I told them was right. Because the second half was much better. More motivational… because from my point of view I think that was the problem in the first half, we respected our opponent too much, with the quotation marks, or we respected our opponent’s name and we had set ourselves something else. It seems that the discussion was positive…”
The Politehnica coach explained that the team understands the importance of the moment on December 4: “We, in the discussions we have, even this week, (talk) because it is an important event in the history of the club and I think that we can also contribute to this celebration through good developments and results.”
Politehnica play on Wednesday, at 18.30, again at home, in the quarter-finals of the Romanian Cup, against FC Argeș.
