Politehnica Timisoara achieved another very important victory, this time on December 4, the 100th anniversary of the foundation of the university club. It was 2-0 on Astra’s field after a solid game of the boys trained by Nicolae Croitoru, which was also appreciated by the coach at the end.

“Of course, we wanted it very much, we were motivated by today’s celebration and we are happy that we were able to get the victory and make our contribution,” said Nicu Croitoru.

“Let’s start with the game, today we really played a good game, we created a lot of chances to score. We controlled the game most of the time, except maybe that short period after we scored the first goal, when the opponent had a penalty, which Păduraru saved. After that we came back into the game, made it 2-0 and won comfortably. If we talk about points. Of course there’s always room for improvement. But I’m glad that the team’s development has been upwards. As proof that we haven’t lost in the championship for four rounds, we have managed three consecutive wins and I think these things are the most important argument in support of the statement I made. I’m glad we haven’t conceded so many goals. In Brasov we won without conceding a goal, today the same, even in the game against FC Argeș, a game played for 120 minutes, with a very good team, we didn’t concede a goal. And again I think it’s an argument that proves that we are on an upward path“, said Politehnica’s head coach.

Nicolae Croitoru also gave today his first minutes at senior level to Ervin Bakos, an attacking midfielder from his own academy, a junior born in 2004 (like Daniel Olariu). “It’s a very important thing. I said from the beginning that we have to pay attention to our own academy. We will continue the work next week, when we will even have three training games, with quite a number of juniors from the academy taking part, in order to see them, to get to know their potential and possibly introduce them to the senior team,” Croitoru said.

The seniors of Politehnica will remain in activity this week, not day by day, and then on Friday they will go on holiday, the coach of the white-violet team informed. “We have two training games set so far, Tuesday against Ghiroda and Thursday against Dumbrăvița. We have another date set for Saturday. These games will be attended by players from the Politehnica Academy, players we have on loan to League 3 clubs and, of course, other players who come from outside, and we want to see them” , he stressed.
