Olimpia Satu Mare was founded, like Poli, in 1921, as a group of ethnic Romanians from the city, shortly after the Great Union. Over the years it went by several names, the most important being Olimpia CFR (under which it debuted in D1 in the 1937/38 season) and, of course, Olimpia, which it wore from 1968 until it was disbanded in 2008. Its heyday was in the 1970s, with a Romanian Cup final in 1978. Its last appearance in Liga I was in 1999.

Olimpia 2010 Satu Mare was formed in 2008, without having the palmares. In 2013 it was promoted for the first time to the second league, and played at this level until 2018, when it also disbanded.

In 2018, CSM Olimpia Satu Mare appeared (also without the “historical” record). Two years later, they were promoted to League III.

Olimpia MCMXXI Satu Mare, a club founded by the supporters of the historical group, also played in this level in the current season. It was placed 8th in the same series, the X-a, in which CSM Olimpia was also.

CSM Olimpia holds its matches at the Daniel Prodan Stadium in the locality, named in memory of the former stoper of the “Golden Generation” (photo), who debuted for Olimpia and passed away in 2016.
