PERFECT RESTART IN LEAGUE 2: POLITEHNICA – GLORIA BUZĂU 2-0!

Politehnica Timişoara started the championship games in 2021 with a win. The white-violets won 2-0 (0-0) in front of Gloria Buzău in the first match of League 2 played this year, a game that counted for the round the 16th. Captain Ioan Mera and midfielder Dorin Codrea were the scorers of the two goals.

Our team had the first great opportunity to score today on the “Dan Păltinişanu” arena in the 6th minute. Then, in the 14th minute, Ivanovici sent with his head from the small box to the cross of “Munti”, but the ball passed over the crossbar. In the following minutes the two teams preferred not to risk defensively on a difficult field, however there were still notable moments. The guests responded with Paţurcă, shot under the bar from a free kick, but Hindrich rejected in the corner. Then, in the 32nd minute, Ioan Mera was hit in the middle of the opponent’s box by the goalkeeper Stoian, but the referee Mircea Ardelean let the game continue.

Politehnica goals were kept for the second half. After 61 minutes, Munteanu sent a free kick in high over the penalty box. 1 – 0 was the score after the first half. The 68th minute brought a new success in front of the Polytechnic. Alex Munteanu puts in a decent corner kick towards the head of his team-mate but Dorin Codrea gets there first and heads it behind for a corner. Petre Ivanovici also wanted to score today, but Stoian stretched and denied the execution of the Timisoara player (min. 78).

Politehnica accumulated 27 points from 15 matches played and climbed to the second position in League 2. In the 17th round, the white-violets play on the field of Unirii Slobozia, a match scheduled for Saturday, February 27, at 11.00.
