Politehnica Timisoara football team lost one point in the standings after today’s decision of the Disciplinary and Ethics Committee of the Romanian Football Federation.
The match in question was the away match against Phoenix Buziaș in the 10th round, the first of the regular season return. The game took place in the village of Carani on 27 October in windy and rainy weather and ended 0-0. The hosts were awarded a penalty, but Murariu saved the execution of captain Nicolescu, a former Poli player. It was 90+9 minutes and immediately afterwards the final whistle blew!
The Disciplinary and Ethics Commission of the FRF homologated the match 3-0 for Buziaș, at the “green table”, because Timisoara used Curescu, who should have been suspended for this game, for accumulation of yellow cards.
Poli remains in 2nd place in the standings with 30 points and a 36-14 record. In their 15 league matches this season, the white-violet team have recorded nine wins, three draws and three defeats. FC Bihor is undefeated at the top with 37 points, CSC Peciu Nou is in third place, with the same score as Poli but a lower record, and Progresul Pecica is in fourth place, the last play-off qualifying spot, with 28 points. Phoenix Buziaș climbs to 26 points and is in 5th place. The championship will resume on 9 March next year.
