Thursday night we host the “Politehnica Derby” in League 2. The white-violet team will host a similarly named team from Iasi, who were relegated from League I at the end of last season. Both teams are coming off important wins.

“We have a very difficult game ahead of us, perhaps the toughest we have had so far. It’s an opponent that comes from League I, an opponent that has kept many players from last season, no less than eight players, plus two or three more players they transferred from League I. One of them, the most emblematic, being Camara from FC Botoșani. We are ready for this game, we are two teams in growing form, both Iasi and us, and we want to play as well as possible and continue on this upward slope,” said Dorin Toma, head coach of Politehnica.

The coach hopes that he and his players can give the Timisoara public their first home win of the 2021-22 season: “We want this very much, it was also the first away game in which we didn’t concede a goal (ed. at Techirghiol, against Unirea C-ța), we are trying step by step to adjust certain things, to grow from game to game and, of course, we want this victory, for our supporters, whom we expect to come to the game in a large number, because football and sport is for spectators. We want as many of them as possible to come to the game and make their evening a great one!”.

The white-violet can’t rely on the services of Sebastian Serediuc and Denis Radu (injured) in this game either. Two or three other players also have medical problems. “We hope to recover them by game time, but no matter who will take the field, I’m sure they will give their all”, said Dorin Toma.

Roberto Hațegan, scorer in the previous game, is looking forward to tomorrow’s match. “Honestly I couldn’t sleep for the last three or four days because I keep thinking about the match and I can’t wait to play against Poli Iasi. We’ve watched their matches and it’s going to be a very tough, very aggressive match, but we’ll give it our all on the pitch,” said Hațegan. He added that he was welcomed by his teammates “with open arms, the guys are very nice, we have a very good atmosphere now. We won the last game and now we go to the next one with a high morale”.

Roberto grew up in the USA, where he played for the Sacramento Republic, and then in Germany with the Nurnberg under-19 team. “Here it’s more tactics and strength, in America it was more strength, in Germany both and here all the time there’s pressure to win points, we have to go up, in League I, that’s our goal!” concluded “The American”.
