Politehnica has submitted the papers for Liga I licensing
Yesterday, March 31, Politehnica Timişoara submitted through the platform of the Romanian Football Federation all the necessary documentation to obtain the League I license, in case our club obtains the promotion at the end of the 2020-21 season.
During today’s press conference, the situation of the sports infrastructure was also debated in the context of the much desired access to the elite. “I met with Deputy Mayor Cosmin Tabără about two weeks ago and the discussions really started to crystallize on the idea launched by me, related to two seemingly contradictory aspects. First, let’s start from the conviction that things are not working properly – we will be able to play “Dan Păltinişanu” for at least a year. In other words, they will not move forward with its demolition and the construction of another stadium. But at the same time, the City Hall should start the construction of the Municipal Stadium this year. Mister. The camp explained to me that it had discussions with the entire City Hall executive, we are convinced that this will be done, on the already existing feasibility study to start the project (initially provided of “lego” type, in Calea Buziaşului), on the technical project, so that in a year and a half at most a municipal stadium will be built whose capacity may be lower than the forecasted one (of 15,000 seats) – it may be 8-10,000 seats, but once the stadium is done. In the case of the big one (on the location of the current “Dan Păltinişanu”), being financed by CNI, and we know what happens at CNI, we must start from the premise that if it ends in the current term of the president of CJ Timiş, which makes every effort and the diligence to build this stadium would be a great performance “, said Viorel-Aurel Şerban, president of the Timişoara Polytechnic.
The current “Dan Păltinişanu” stadium remains the first option of the Politehnica for the development of games in case of promotion.
“Last night we managed to upload on the platform of the Romanian Football Federation all the documents for licensing in the first league. Indeed, the issue of the stadium will be discussed in detail when we are promoted. I tell you that we already have the consent of those from Cluj. Because we gave priority to “Dan Păltinişanu”, but we must always put a reserve stadium. Thanks to those from CFR Cluj, I received their agreement, that in certain situations we can play matches on CFR (“Dr. Constantin Rădulescu” Stadium) and we received all the necessary documentation… I think there were over 600 pages scanned and submitted for licensing. But, we hope and I am convinced that Mr. President (CJT) Alin Nica will do everything necessary for the Dan Păltinişanu stadium to be in optimal conditions to play the matches in the first league… “, concluded Viorel-Aurel Şerban.
Also related to sports infrastructure, on March 24, a.c. Polytechnic University obtained the construction permit for “Extension and modernization of the Sports Base Nr. 1 of UPT – “Science” Stadium (more details about this project, here).
