Regarding the situation of the player Doru Andrei and the information that appeared today in the press, our club would like to make the following clarifications:
- The player has a valid sports contract with our club until the end of June 2025. The contract of sporting activity was registered on 07.02.2022 at the Registry of the Romanian Football Federation, with a date certain. According to FRF regulations and statutes, our club has a legal deadline of six months to register the contract at the FRF Competitions Department, by 07.08.2022 at the latest.
- After the end of the EURO U19 final tournament, the player did not return to Timisoara for training on 30.06.2022, as agreed and having a plane ticket purchased by the club. For this reason, reports were drawn up by the technical staff for non-compliance with Article IV, para. 1 “General rights and obligations of the parties” of the sports activity contract concluded with the club, with a view to sanctioning the player.
- The reason for not making the team was the national team doctor’s recommendation to rest for 2 weeks with a diagnosis of patellar tendonitis. The diagnosis was confirmed by our club doctor through a consultation and an MRI performed on 04.07.2022, the only day the player was present in Timisoara.
- At the beginning of July the player’s file was collected from the FRF Competitions Department by a representative of FC Voluntari S.A. for the purpose of registration with the first league club. We have been informed of this fact by the Romanian Football Federation in an address issued on 06.07.2022.
- All the documents and records relating to this case have been put together in a file that will be submitted to the National Dispute Resolution Chamber of the Romanian Football Federation. Our club is legally assisted in this case by a Bucharest law firm specialised in the settlement of sports and labour disputes.
We assure all supporters of Politehnica Timisoara that we are in permanent contact with the representatives of the Romanian Football Federation and that we will take all necessary legal steps to resolve this dispute by respecting the ongoing legal contracts.
