Our team has another long trip this weekend, to the other corner of the country, to play AFC Unirea Constanta (formerly Farul). Despite the changes made to the technical bench in the camp from Dobrogea, Politehnica’s staff and players remain on guard and approach Saturday’s match with maximum seriousness.

“A difficult match awaits us, even if we meet an opponent that in this beginning of the championship has failed to score any points and has failed to score. What happened to them this week may motivate them a lot more for the game against us. We know about these changes and that’s why we have to stay grounded, prepare as well as possible and take the game very seriously. They had growth from game to game, even in the Cluj game playing very well and deserved at least a point in my opinion. But unfortunately, and I feel sorry for Ianis Zicu, he didn’t manage to continue, there was a lot of pressure on him, but this can motivate the team much more and be a positive shock for them”, said Dorin Toma, Politehnica’s head coach. Unirea Constanta started the championship with Ianis Zicu as head coach, but he and his collaborators left after the 0-1 defeat in Cluj against “U”.

As for the white-violets, their morale is still high after the 1-1 home draw with FC Buzău. “The mood in the dressing room is good, it was a good game, even if we had some moments when we fell a bit, because not all the players are at the same physical parameters. At the end we could have won the game, having great chances, and we have to move on…”, said Dorin Toma.

Unfortunately, the Politehnica coach can’t rely on all his players for this duel: “Unfortunately, we can’t use Serediuc yet, who hasn’t played a single minute so far. Denis Radu is also uncertain for this match. So is Scutaru. Benzar, too, has a medical problem and we’ll see if we can get him back by game time. We’re suffering from that point of view. But those who will come in and replace them I’m sure will bring a beneficial addition to the team.”

Doru Andrei, one of Politehnica’s standouts in this start of the championship, also spoke about Saturday’s game. “A difficult match awaits us, we must not take into account the position of the opponents in the standings, we go confident and get the maximum, the three points”, stressed the 18-year-old midfielder.

Doru managed an assist last round – the goal pass given to Benzar for Politehnica’s goal in the match against FC Buzău. “First of all I want to thank the coach for having faith in me and I hope to repeat the figure in Constanta (…) I want to give everything for this team, for the supporters and to play as well as possible… I believe in my qualities”, Andrei added.

Our U18 eligible player in League 2 games has been called up for the period 30 August – 7 September in Romania’s U19 training camp, which is meeting right in Timisoara. The U19 national team will play two verification matches against Bosnia-Herzegovina (5 and 7 September).

The match Unirea Constanta – Politehnica Timisoara will be played on Saturday at 11.00 (untelevised) at the “Sparta” stadium in Techirghiol, in the fourth round of League 2. Before this round, the team from Dobrogea is in 19th place, with no points accumulated, while our team is in 9th position with four points.
