The third edition of the Barca Academy Serbia camp was organized on June 21-25. A junior from Timisoara, the striker Alexandru Cristian Matei, from the 2011 group of the Politehnica , was designated at the end of the internship in Belgrade the best player in the under 10 category and thus remains in the attention of the famous Catalan club.

Alexandru Matei has been a member of the Politehnica since 2018 and works in the group of births in 2011. The little striker was invited to participate in the academy camp of FC Barcelona after participating in the international tournament “Vujadin Boskov”. Andrei Tolcea also stood out at the Novi Sad competition. He also competed at FCB Academy as a prize for winning the U13 top scorer title.

For five days, the two trained under the supervision of specialists from the famous La Masia academy. Alex Matei, named the best kid under 10, remained in the attention of the Catalan club. In the next period, out of the ten noticed on campus, a winner will be chosen who will go to train for two weeks at the famous academy in Barcelona, and will later remain under the “magnifying glass” of the Iberian club.

“He started playing football for three years at the Polytechnic, for two years he has been doing individual training with Mr. Alin Paleacu, in order to progress… He had a real explosion under the guidance of the coaches. Thanks to Politehnica, because they do their job very well and we are very satisfied, it got where it got. On his work and on the work of the coaches! ”, Said Cristian Matei, Alex’s father.

“I liked Serbia. First of all, I want to thank the coaches from the Politehnica for everything they taught me. In Belgrade I did a lot of training with passes, in the style of Barcelona, I think it suits me “, said Alexandru Matei, who is, of course, a Leo Messi fan.

“He has native qualities, a plus in speed and intelligence, he is ambitious, combative and he is in a continuous development”, characterized Gelu Haidău, the coach of the 2011 group of the Politehnica .

After a period in which they missed the important competitions, the white-violet kids born in 2011 will be engaged in the main county series at “E juniors”. “Our goal is to develop the players, to grow individually, as well as as a team, to be a competitive team of the championship. We participate in the first series, the winner will advance on the area, then on the country, on the final phase. In a fairly short period of time, the results can be seen, both as a team and as players, individually. They have made a lot of progress in a year and a half, since we managed to prepare for the pandemic. There are seven or eight other players in the group who deserve to be watched because they have real qualities for the football game “, Haidău concluded.
