Politehnica lost, 0-3, the first leg game at FC Universitatea Cluj. Coach Dorin Toma said that his players committed several errors that were not seen in the summer training and also the attitude in the first half was not right.

“Unfortunately for us it’s a bad start. A game in which in the first half we didn’t really count, in which we made big individual mistakes. In the second half we tried to balance the game. We really balanced it, but unfortunately we didn’t make much of an impact in the finishing. Maybe it was also the first-timer jitters, in friendlies we showed something completely different. But unfortunately friendlies are friendlies. We played with Liga 3, only the last game we played with Ripensia. Unfortunately we didn’t manage to have the attitude and determination we had then. And that counted,” said Dorin Toma, Politehnica’s head coach.

“The absences also counted. Scutaru’s absence was felt, Serediuc’s absence, we had more solutions with them. But that didn’t matter in the end. What mattered was our attitude in the first half. The own goal on defensive organization, passes to the opponent, mistakes that we haven’t made so far, but here, maybe there was too much pressure on some players and this showed”, Dorin Toma added.
