Politehnica Timisoara played on Wednesday, on the synthetic field of the 2nd Base, the first test of the winter. It was a family game with the big juniors of the white-violet academy, participating in the Youth League, and which ended with the score of 4-2 (1-1) in favor of the seniors.

Poli did not use V. Prună (individual training), D. Ciurel, R. Ciurel, Boariu and Miclăuș (physical tests), while F. Pop, Fazekaș, M. Lazăr, F. Roșu and Mihăescu, youngsters who have already had contact with the first team, were used in the U18 line-up. Also in the second half, goalkeeper Enășescu, Huminic and Moș played for the juniors after being used for the seniors in the first half.

After a goal was disallowed for the seniors (Popa was offside), the ambitious juniors coached by Iulian Muntean opened the scoring through Goia, who took advantage of a defensive indecision on a corner kick and headed home with a quarter of an hour gone. The bigger Alb Alb-violets equalized six minutes before half-time when David Popa scored with a shot to the right of his teammate Enășescu. On the restart Poli (I) went in front after a similar opening goal. This time Istratie (49, photo) scored with a header from Alex Militaru’s corner. In the 67th minute, Cosmin Mihăescu, the most active man in the young Polisti’s offense (a player already promoted to the first team in the fall), restored the tie: 2-2, after the rebound fell into Enășescu’s goal. The senior’s reply came not three minutes later, also after a corner, when Tătaru made it 3-2 with a header. And the final score was set by Sebi Avramescu, with a low finish from the box on the last play of the game.

“We always start with this test because we want to see our players in the club. And it was a very good, very very good game! Because we saw, both juniors and us, very good young players. Which gives us hope, because in the future for sure most of the players we have at the club will be from the academy and I think we have something to build on. It really was a training game, maybe some of the players took it as a training game and they got it wrong… It’s absolutely normal and I’m glad to see that (n.r. ambition), because of them (n.r. U18 juniors) there are already four of them (n.r. U18 juniors) who are in the senior squad. They started training in the senior team. There can always be more to come and be part of the senior team. They also played juniors 2009, and 2008 in the field. It’s a very good thing for us, because we see the youngsters that we train on a daily basis or have trained in the academy, that they can cope,” said Cristian Gălan, Politehnicii’s head coach.

Compared to the names present at the meeting, the only novelty today was the presence in the trial of young Dragoș Dioșteanu (b. 2006, CSS Craiova). “We’re trying to get an idea about them (n.r. the players on trial), we already have a few days with them, today Dragoș played 90 minutes just to see him at work. We will have them for two more days maximum, until the game against Periam. Because there we already have to be limited in number because there is no other way to divide the minutes”, concluded Gălan.

Our team’s next training game will be on Saturday, January 25, at 11.00 am (one hour earlier than the originally announced schedule), also at Base 2, against CS Avântul Periam.
