Politehnica fought for a win against newly promoted CSA Steaua and finally got it at the end of the duel in the 15th round of League 2. The guests led at half-time after Enceanu’s goal, but the end belonged to the white-violet, who won 2-1 after headers from Tavi Ursu and Ioan Mera! It was also a match in which the Timisoara crowd returned in reasonable numbers to the stands.

The first notable phase took place at the guests’ goal, after about a minute Andrei tried his shot from distance, but the ball went over Bălbărău’s goal. After the positive start, the guests dominated more territorially. On this background came the opening goal. It was the 29th minute when Oroian’s cross was rebounded from the centre of the box, on the ground by Enceanu, to the right corner of Păduraru, who missed the ball. The game rebalanced after this point. There could have been a draw on the scoreboard at half-time, but Scutaru’s header from Andrei’s corner fell on the crossbar, then Ignea tried to head in from a tight angle, but the ball went wide.

The second half started with a huge chance for Politehnica, but Gerbi (min. 47), on his heels, shot wide from a good position. Steaua could have surprised on the counter-attack in the 63rd minute, but Enceanu’s shot also went wide. Five minutes later Ursu also sent wide from a free-kick from outside the corner of the red-blue box. Finally the equalizer came in the 82nd minute, Ignea’s cross from the right flank and Ursu’s header under the bar: 1-1! Moreover, in the 88th minute the scoreboard moved again: 2-1 after Mera’s header from the “free” executed by the same Ignea! And the last sequences of the game were well managed by Nicu Croitoru’s boys.

Important success, Politehnica accumulates 17 points, but remains for now on the 15th position. Next Wednesday, at 18.30, the Cup quarterfinals duel with FC Argeș! See you at the stadium!
