The white-violet can’t wait to get back on the pitch and make up for the clear defeat suffered in the opening round at Cluj Arena. Coach Dorin Toma spoke today about the desire of the whole team to show the true face of Politehnica in Tuesday’s match against Danarea Calarasi.
“Unfortunately we are in front of you after a failure in Cluj, a half in which we didn’t count at all, a second half in which we recovered a little, but unfortunately, we also suffered at the finish. We hope that in the game in Calarasi we will look completely different, that we will change the face of the team, because it is not the same as in the game against U Cluj. And we want very much to show attitude, discipline, which we have been training all summer. Unfortunately it was not seen in Cluj and this was important and we came back with a 0-3 for which we have no excuse”, said Dorin Toma, Politehnica’s head coach.
“We have to be patient because we still transferred players last week and this week. So we ask for patience and ask our supporters to be patient with us. Because, we trained some players this summer, then we transferred one by one, just this week a player came – Rareș Lazăr. Unfortunately we didn’t manage to bring in players at the beginning of training. We started training a week later and in the friendly games we had we didn’t see the mistakes we made at U Cluj, because we didn’t have strong opponents. The team that we trained and entered in the first 11, apart from Bocșan, didn’t concede any goals in the friendly games and then of course, we didn’t see the big mistakes that were made on the defensive phase. That doesn’t excuse me at all. That’s why we worked this week, we will continue to work, to change the face of the team and the discipline of the game (…) But as this week has passed, the players who came in later have prepared very well, they are already almost at the same level as the ones we started with. Already there is competition post by post and the best player will come in. There will be changes in the team, changes that will be beneficial and with which we want to win this game. Because it is very important for us. We started with a cold shower, but we have to recover as soon as possible”, Dorin Toma added.
Politehnica’s staff watched the match played by Danarea last week in Timisoara against Ripensia, which ended in a draw – score 3-3. “I saw the game, the same, two totally opposite halves. One in which Ripensia controlled the game, a second half in which Călărașiul controlled the game much better, this makes us think, they are a well-prepared team. With former players, who were last year, plus the young players they have brought in now, we will not have an easy game. But I have great confidence in us, that we will show a different side of ourselves on the field”, the head coach of the white-violet also stressed. He specified that all Politehnica’s players are fit for the next match, including Cristian Scutaru, except goalkeeper Robert Popeț (absent for a longer period).
The match between Danarea Calarasi and Politehnica Timisoara will be played on Tuesday, August 10, at 17.00 (televised), in the second round of League 2.
