We are happy to announce another return to the blue and white. Goalkeeper Rareș Murariu has signed a two-year contract with Politehnica.

Rareș Mihai Murariu was born on 5 April 1999, in Mangalia. He started playing football at Callatis Mangalia and then grew up at “Gheorghe Hagi” Academy. He was national champion in the U19 Elite League with FC Viitorul in the 2017-18 season, after which he first arrived at Politehnica. For our team he played in 48 games at League 2 level. Last season he was the player of Romanian champion CFR Cluj, making his debut in the elite in a game against FCSB (score 2-0).

“I’m glad to be back at Politehnica Timisoara, I’m aware that many people will say that maybe I’ve taken a step back in my career, but I don’t consider that, because I know what is required at Poli, what the demands and expectations are! We came here to fight for the top places, to make a good impression. Naturally, we’ll take each match one by one and we’ll always play to win, that’s the most important thing. The group of guys I’ve found better since I left, because they’ve also had play-off experience, they’ve fought, they’ve got into the play-offs and they’ve had some very, very strong matches there, on the line. It was a very beneficial thing for them and this year, God help us to repeat last year’s performance and I think it will be very good!”, Rareș Murariu
