Politehnica Timisoara found out today its opponent in the round of 16 of the Romanian Cup, 2021-22 edition. The draw has established that our team will face fellow echelon Unirea Slobozia in a single game, away.
“It’s a tough opponent, a difficult game also because of the away game. We were expecting a totally different opponent, maybe a League I one would have been better. But this way we’ll have a long away game and we’re also playing away after the Cup match at Viitorul Pandurii. That’s the biggest problem. And with Unirea Slobozia we will also play them in the championship two rounds later. It’s a completely different team from last season. Last season they saved themselves from relegation and they have built a pretty good team, with a competitive squad and they have a good start to the championship”, said Dorin Toma, Politehnica’s head coach.
