Politehnica Timisoara is part of Series 9 in the 2024-25 season of League 3. We have no less than five new opponents, compared to the Series 8 we were part of last season, so we invite you to get to know our future competition partners better.

ACS Minerul Lupeni – A traditional name in football in the Jiului Valley, with an “ancestor” even a national vice-champion (Jiul Lupeni), the current Minerul Lupeni got a place in the third tier although it missed promotion after the play-off. The team coached by Dan Voicu drew in the first leg and lost in the second leg (0-3) against Viitorul Arad, as champions of League 4 Hunedoara.

CS Timisul Șag – The team from the south of Timisoara is active for the first time on a national level. With a stylish stadium and constant investment from the local administration, players who have even played on the first stage, such as former policemen Alex Munteanu, Adrian Zaluschi and Petre Ivanovici, have been attracted to Șag. In the play-offs Srgian Luchin’s pupils crushed the champion of Caras – Magica Balta Caransebeș – by the overall score of 12-1!

ACS Viitorul Arad – This is a football project patronized by the Italian Gio Catanzariti (former UTA). The champions of League 4 Arad also have names known by the fans (Cătălin Bădăuță, Victor Gârlea).

CSC Ghiroda and Giarmata Vii – Politehnica’s opponents in last season’s promotion play-off semi-final lost the final to FC Bihor, then in another semi-final, the one-off mini play-off, they were beaten 1-3 away to CS Dinamo. The squad trained by Sorin Bălu underwent small changes in the summer and the yellow-blue will certainly have an important role in the series, after last season they were distributed in C7 (a series dominated by teams from the Oltenia area).

CSC Peciu Nou – Still relying on highly experienced players (Mera and Ignea among them). Last season, as newly promoted for the first time in League 3, the green-and-whites qualified for the play-offs and finished third, nine points behind us.

ACS Progresul Pecica – The Aarabian team coached by Dan Stupar has already been known by Poli in the new season, in the Cup game in which the white-violets won on penalties. Last season Pecica narrowly missed the play-off and won the C8 play-out phase clearly.

CS Lotus Băile Felix – The group from Bihor finished last season’s championship in second place in the play-out play-out Seriei 10. Formed in 2009 under the name CSC Sânmartin, it acquired its current name in the summer of 2021. Coaches Cosmin Bodea and Ovidiu Morna also rely on players from FC Bihor.

CS Avântul Periam – It used to bounce back in the second part of the season in League 3. It finished the 2023-24 edition of the C8 play-out on the 3rd place and the lot prepared by coach Răzvan Leucă is largely the same.

CS Gloria Lunca-Teuz Cermei – After initially being relegated to League 4, after their modest placing in the last championship – 4th place in the C8 play-out. The “Sămădăii” were relegated and on Wednesday, in their new form, they came close to a surprise in the Romanian Cup, where they held FC Bihor in check until extra time (score 2-6, from 2-0 and after 2-2 at the end of the 90 minutes).
